Board Members

Kathryn Caucci
President
An STC member since 2006, 2010 marks KC’s fourth year on the club board and third year as President. Vineman 70.3 is an annual tradition for KC, she enjoys the beautiful scenery, challenging but doable bike course, and incredible race energy. In 2010 KC hopes to finish the World’s Toughest Half Iron-distance triathlon in Auburn in less than 7 hours. She played JV soccer and was briefly a college basketball cheerleader. KC’s favorite food is sushi. If she had to describe herself in one word, it would be “passionate.”

Sarah Kimball
Secretary
Sarah joined STC in January 2009, not long after re-locating to the Sacramento area from northern Illinois. She’s always liked outdoor sports and while sampling athletic endeavors two years ago fell into a group triathlon class, which she totally enjoyed. Since joining STC Sarah has learned how to ride her bike up steep hills in the rain, how to hit a volleyball, and play Ultimate Frisbee. She felt like she was 12 again and had a blast! Sarah really likes the variety of training triathlon provides, challenging herself as an individual, and especially all the cool gear.

Michelle Raynaud
Treasurer
2010 is Michelle’s second year serving on the STC board. The Wildflower Olympic distance race was the highlight of her 2009 events, and the Wildflower Long Course triathlon is her goal event for 2010. Michelle was involved in many high school sports and was on the varsity basketball team in her freshman year. Her favorite foods are sushi and pizza. The worst job she ever had was working in a candy store.

Darren Cain
Membership Director
Darren has been an STC member since 2007 and is serving his first term on the club board. His favorite 2009 race event was Vineman 70.3 where he especially enjoyed the swim and being in the same race as professional triathletes. His 2010 goals include World’s Toughest Triathlon, Vineman 70.3, and breaking 2 hours 30 minutes in a Tri for Real. Darren worked as a meter reader for PG&E for eight years, walking an average of 15 miles a day, next time you see him at an STC event ask him about Thor the German Sheppard.

Mike Gates
Sponsorship Director
Another new board member, Mike brings lots of energy and enthusiasm to his first term on the board. The highlight of Mike’s 2009 season was finishing 4th in the Vineman Aquabike. His goal for 2010 is to ride 5000 miles, including a cycling trip from the Golden Gate Bridge to Golden, Colorado. Mike has suffered cycling related broken fingers twice, the first time when he was 14 years old, the next when he was 49 on a ride from Mendocino to Mexico. If Mike had to describe himself in one word, it would be “easy-going.”

Stephanie Denison
Newsletter Director
A club member since 2007, Stephanie is looking forward to her second year as Newsletter Director for STC. In 2009 Stephanie completed her first two double centuries, enjoyed her first age group podium with TBF, and won the Prairie City Mountain Bike Fall Flash series points competition – beginner women 35+. While in college, she spent a semester working in the dish room at the CSUS dining commons, which is a hot and disgusting job. If Stephanie had to describe herself using one word, it would be “perfectionist.”
